One of our local towns in Cecil County gave us a call when they suffered an unexpected water disaster at one of their properties.  A heavy rainstorm had caused the building to flood extensively, and immediate action was critical to prevent further damages and restore the building effectively.

Our restoration professionals visited the property right away to begin the water extraction process.  Once all water was removed from the affected areas, we then laid down drying equipment to ensure the structure was fully restored.  Our team was also happy to help clean and restore the affected contents as well as the space itself with our antifungal and antimicrobial cleaning techniques.  The customer was amazed by our services and quick response to the situation, and we were happy to help!

Fire Safety Tips to Protect Your Restaurant Business

3/18/2019 (Permalink)

Restaurants always have the risk of fire damage since heat is a key ingredient in this industry.  There are actions you can take to prevent this risk by following these steps.

  • Install an automatic fire-suppression system in the kitchen. In the event of a fire, this system will release chemicals to put out the flames and shut off the electrical power to other cooking equipment to prevent further damage.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. A Class K fire extinguisher should be used in the kitchen, while a Class ABC fire extinguisher should be used for any other fires not located in the kitchen.
  • Regularly maintain all cooking equipment and exhaust systems.
  • Train your employees in proper fire prevention techniques.

Following these procedures will save your restaurant from devastating fire damage and keep your business, employees and customers safe. If your business does suffer from fire loss, contact the fire restoration professionals at SERVPRO of Cecil County.  Our emergency services can get your business back up and running quickly.

SERVPRO of Cecil County offers more to our local businesses than restoration during large events from fire or water damage.  Our cleaning and restoration professionals are happy to help with your everyday business needs such as carpet cleaning.  We have offered this service to many homes and businesses in our local area, and our customers are happy to see their carpets looking brand new.

Before your carpets need our services, there are actions you can take to keep them looking clean on your own.  To maintain the look and cleanliness of your carpets, vacuuming should be done regularly.  Other steps you can take to keep your carpets looking new include stain removal, pilating the carpet to prevent matting, moving furniture around to change traffic patterns, and using mats to limit the amount of soil on the carpet.

If your carpets require more attention to meet your business needs, contact us at (410) 620-3322.

Exterior of affected units

Did you know that SERVPRO of Cecil county is a 24/7 restoration company?  One of our tag lines "Faster to any size disaster" was certainly put to the test when we got this phone call from a commercial residential apartment complex.

At approx. 9:30pm we received an emergency phone call from a property in North East.  Cliff Masscotte, our Marketing Manager, was first to the scene at approx 10:00pm.  He walked with the Maintenance Manager to assess the damage until the crew and project managers arrived.  Once they were on scene, we had our machines up and running to start the drying process.

A total of 6 units were affected and demolition had to be done from water damage.  SERVPRO of Cecil County will be handling the repairs to the units as well with our construction division.  Once completed, we will have made it "Like it never even happened"!

Homeless Encampment Clean-out

Homeless Encampment

SERVPRO of Cecil County recently received a phone call from a commercial business asking us if we did clean-ups and clean-outs, our answer:  Of Course!

Upon asking further questions we realized this would not be the typical clean-up job.  This commercial business wanted us to clean up a homeless encampment close to their facility.  As you can see from the picture, it was quite the job.  However, this is only one picture of the many that we took.  To see the rest, check out our Facebook page HERE.

We did treat this as a bio-hazard condition based on the amount of material we had to move.  We had 2 bobcats, 5 dumpsters, and a dozen crew members who tackled this job and not only helped our valued commercial client, but cleaned up nature as well!
